FAQs about Dye Sublimation

Dye Sublimation is a printing process where dye is transferred into the fabric using heat. The ink becomes part of the fabric, allowing for vibrant, long-lasting designs that won’t peel, crack, or fade over time.

  • Durability: The design becomes part of the fabric, making it resistant to wear.
  • Customisation: You can print complex designs, including gradients, logos, and sponsor details, in full colour.
  • Comfort: Dye sublimated uniforms are often made from lightweight, breathable materials.

Dye sublimation works best on polyester or polyester blends. It doesn’t adhere well to natural fabrics like cotton, as the dye needs synthetic fibres to bond with. Most sports uniforms are made of polyester for this reason.

There is a minimum of 20 per style, and this can be a mixture of mens and ladies if required.  However, we can still also to 10+ garment orders, but there will be an additional 20% surcharge.

Artwork is required in Vector format in either PDF or EPS. Numbers and names are achievable and priced accordingly.  The better the file, the better the results will be.  The end results will only be as good as the file you send us.

Dye sublimation styles include short and long sleeve polo shirts, t-shirts, singlets, hoodies, shorts, skorts, rashies, netball dresses, and more.  They are common in sports like netball, rugby, league, soccer, basketball, hockey, and cycling, but they can also be customised for any type of sport, business or event.

Dye sublimated uniforms have a higher upfront cost than printed or embroidered uniforms, however the result gives you a totally customised and unique design.  They also tend to be more cost-effective over time because of their durability.

Production times can vary, but it typically takes 6-8 weeks depending on the company and the complexity of the design.

Wash in cold water with mild detergent and air dry or tumble dry on low to extend the life of the uniform. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners.

Dye sublimated uniforms are designed to be fade-resistant. Since the dye bonds with the fibres of the fabric, the colours remain vibrant for a long time, even after many washes.
